Empties Filled

Squall 8, Autumn 1994, pg. 5.

BRISTOL City Council has just announced plans to bring back into use the estimated 6,000 empty properties in the city.

Owners who have left their buildings empty for more than a year will be ‘persuaded and advised’ that they ought to do something with them.

‘Practical help’ will be offered by the council, who wish to stop the waste of good housing and house the city’s homeless. Apparently, compulsory purchase will only be used in exceptional circumstances. Shame!
